New York City, New York Feb 9, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Modern Logistics, the São-Paulo-based logistics firm, is planning to renew its fleet with new Boeing 737-800 aircraft to partially replace its current fleet of four older 737 freighters.
Under consideration are two 737-800 BCFs (Boeing converted freighter). These aircraft are proven to be more efficient, ensuring lower operating costs for each payload ton compared to the standard-body freighters in the earlier 737 series. Modern Logistics will evaluate retaining existing 737 aircraft over the short term according to CFO and President Mario Fernandes da Costa. The companys potential acquisition of Boeing 737-800 BCFs is significantly streamlined as a result of Brazils Agencia Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) approval for AEI conversions.
Modern Logistics currently operates two 737-400s and two 737-300s. While these aircraft provide excellent customer service, the growth in e-commerce and rising demand for long-haul services in a continental-sized and geographically challenged country requires updating and expanding Moderns fleet to meet the needs and requirements of Moderns customers.
Modern Logistics is in conversations with lessors and estimates delivery of the first two aircraft by early 2024. Previously, the introduction of ATR 72s (twin-engine turbo props) was considered but is temporarily suspended although this fleet addition may be reassessed if customer demand arises.
Going forward, the company is evaluating its options in the logistics market and is committed to expanding its load capacity, better use and availability of equipment, and lower fuel consumption with the goal of cutting costs and delivering greater value to customers.
